Maral Iskakbay

Maral Iskakbay – a writer, a member of Kazakhstan Writers' Union, World Nation Writers’ Union and the initiator. A chairman of Kazakhstan authors society. He was born on 2 February 1938 in village “Sulutor” Kurday district Dzhambul region. After finishing high school in 1955, worked on a farm, in the library, and was a builder, took part in construction of Magnitogorsk Temirtau.

He graduated from the philological faculty of Kazakh State University named S.M. Kirov in 1965, a philologist, a teacher of the Kazakh language and literature. Author of "Forty girls" (1975), "At the foot of Sulutor" (1977), "The Legend of conscience" (1980), "Beginning of Summer" (1982),

"The poet Timur the Lame" (1984), "My neighbors (1985), "Heart of Solace" (1988), "living the life" (1991), "The truth - Criterion Art" (1994), "Woman, never fall in love " (1996), "Utegen batyr" (1999) " Кюйши Байсерке" (2003); "Passes Kurdayskie" (2007), "The Works" in 5 volumes (2007), several tens of ethnographic, journalistic, literary-critical articles. Нe speaks Kazakh and Russian languages.

From 1964 he was a teacher, a head teacher, a director of the High School in Dzhambul district in Almaty region. Since 1971 - editor of Encyclopedia (Alma-Ata). From 1976 to 1977 – he is chief editor of the republican association "Kazbook." Since 1978 - a responsible employee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Kazakhstan. Since 1984 - Secretary of the Kazakhstan Union Writers . Since 1985 – a director of the publishing house "School". Since 1986 - the director of the publishing house "Writer." Since 1991 - Chairman of the State Agency of Kazakhstan on copyright. He was awarded the Order of "Kurmet" (2006) : Medal "For Labour Valour" (За трудовую доблесть) (1970), " Twenty year for Kazakhstan's independence" (2002), "Ten year for Astana" (2008); Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR (1988).

He is Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan (1998). Wife - Shegirova Ansagan (1939-2008), worked as a teacher of biology in high school, and more than 20 years at the Department of Botany of the Kazakh State University S.M. Kirov. Children – Akmaral (1963 ) Karla (1964 ), Ardak (1966 ), Ayman (1968 ), Umitzhan (1970), Rabiga (1978 ). Grandchildren – Assel Alua, Ayim, Madiyar, Shyngys, Sanjar, Mansur, Janel’, Anuar.
