BIOGRAPHY SARAH CARRERE

Charles Carrère was born December 9, 1928 in Saint-Louis Senegal, he now lives in France (Lannion) - his second homeland. Charles Carrère is one of the most eminent personalities of Francophone literature in Africa. He also contributes to several literary journals and is featured in numerous anthologies.

He testifies in his works, sometimes intimist, sometimes committed, of his profound fidelity to the movement of Négritude, the great cultural revolution launched after the war by the poet president of Senegal, Léopold Sédar Senghor. Charles Carrère is honorary president of the International House of Poetry of Brussels founded by his long-time friend Arthur Haulot and he is the patron of the Saint Louis International Poetry Festival of Senegal, organized from December 3rd to 5th, 2015 by the Circle of Writers and Poets of Saint-Louis (CEPS).

The poetry contest that was organized on this occasion, had a massive participation of students The President of the Circle of Writers and Poets of St. Louis (CEPS), Alioune Badara Coulibaly paid a vibrant tribute to Charles Carrère, at the French Institute of St. Louis, at the opening ceremony of the Poetry Festival in its seventh edition.
